Day 1: Maun International Airport

Having taken various flights to reach Maun Airport this afternoon, it is here where you will meet and greet a representative from Bush Rover Safaris. He will be holding a board with your name written on it. You will be transferred to the lodge where you will overnight. The guide will brief and discuss the pickup time for the next day to start your holiday safari on Day 1.

Day 2: Transfer to Moremi Game Reserve [Xhini, Xakanaxa]

The Meru-style tents measure 3 metres by 4 metres with a high roof and a porch at the front. They are equipped with comfortable beds with a mattress plus high-quality bedding that includes a duvet and pillows. There are insect screens on all windows and doors. A zipped door at the rear leads into an open-roofed en-suite bathroom with a bucket shower and a long-drop bush toilet. Showers can be ordered as hot, warm or cold. Water is heated in a bucket on the kitchen fire and brought to the tent when requested, though the guide reserves the right to limit water use if necessary. Soap, hand towels and bath towels are supplied.

Early morning of the day after enjoying our breakfast, the journey takes us to the famous reserve – one of the best wilderness destinations of Botswana, which covers swamps and dry areas. Moremi rates as one of the leading wildlife areas in southern Africa and must certainly be one of the most beautiful. Where land and delta meet, a mosaic of pans, grassland, rolling parklands, forests, lagoons and floodplains combine to provide a richly diverse habitat in which wildlife can flourish. The reserve comprises an area of 30,900 square kilometres which includes Xhini, Xakanaxa, Khwai, South Gate and North Gate, and is dominated by mopane vegetation.

Day 3 & 4: Moremi Game Reserve [Xakanaxa, Xhini] – Camping

You are woken early morning by the camp crew, who fill the stand basin outside the tent with warm water so you can face-bathe before breakfast around the camp firebase. The sun starts to creep above the horizon to the rhythmic background calling of a myriad of birds, and we begin to search the region’s famed wildlife. Examining the tracks, cats and flora of the environment allows you to better understand how the species co-exist and the role/niche that each organism occupies in the ecosystem. There is also a chance that we may encounter a variety of mammals. Whilst sightings will inevitably be at a distance, the experience is that much more dramatic from being in the vehicle.

Day 5: Transfer to Moremi Game Reserve [Khwai] – Camping

This reserve is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled in Africa, covering nearly 5,000 square kilometres of floodplain and grasslands intertwined with riverine forest and lagoons. This diverse ecosystem provides a mosaic of habitats for a wide variety of mammals. The area is home to a resident herd of several hundred buffalo whose range covers the territories of at least four prides of lion, which are often seen flanking the perpetually moving herds. Breeding herds of elephants move between the water and mopane woodland where animals get to browse. Multiple animals gathered allows us to play with group composition shots and methods to capture the interactions and behaviour with our cameras.

Day 6: Moremi Game Reserve [Khwai] – Camping

Early morning after breakfast, we will go on a game drive towards the mokoro station where we will start the mokoro (canoe) activity. We will change mode of transport. You will meet polers who will be poling you. They are professionals and skilled with much information about the area. This will give you a chance to get pictures closer and enjoy the tranquillity.

Day 7: Transfer to Chobe National Park [Savuti] – Camping

Our journey takes us to Chobe National Park (Savuti), long regarded as a must during any visit to Botswana. Savuti offers exciting wildlife and some of the most diverse landscapes in the country. It is an area of roughly 5,000 square kilometres, lying within Chobe National Park near its boundary with the Mababe Depression and Savuti Marsh. Savuti was once part of the giant Lake Makgadikgadi and in those days connected to both the Okavango and Zambezi rivers. When Lake Makgadikgadi started drying up some 30,000 years ago, Lake Mababe was left behind as a giant pool, which also dried eventually, leaving behind the Mababe Depression.

Day 8 & 9: Chobe National Park [Savuti] – Full Days – Camping

Full days in Savuti will give you the opportunity to visit the rock paintings. Game drives in the morning and afternoon, then back for lunch and siesta.

Day 10: Transfer to Kasane

After seeing some of the most incredible sightings on earth, our safari has come to an end. Savor breakfast this morning and say goodbye to the backup team. You will be transferred to Kasane as per your arrangements.
