Delta exploration safari

Delta exploration safari

Embark on an unforgettable journey through the heart of Botswana’s Okavango Delta with our fully serviced Delta Exploration Safari. This 7-days/6-nights adventure takes you deep into the wilderness, offering an immersive experience in one of Africa’s most pristine and wildlife-rich regions.

Highlights

Arrival Day: Maun International Airport [Lodging]

Upon arrival at the airport, a professional guide from Bush Rover Safaris will be waiting with a board written your name. He/she will meet and greet you and transfer you to the lodge where you will overnight. Dinner at own expense. You will have your afternoon at leisure to relax.

ACTIVITIES: Camel ride

Day 1: Transfer Into the Delta [Nxaraga] – Camping

After an early breakfast, as the sun rises, you will make your way into the delta with a 4×4 vehicle. Transfer to the boat station and change mode of transport into the boat for the 1-hour 30-minute drive. For the 2 nights of stay, be advised to fully charge and carry extra batteries.

The delta is set like a jewel in the middle of the Kalahari Desert – Africa’s largest and most beautiful oasis, an isolated paradise surrounded by a hostile environment. It is Botswana’s prime wildlife location, with palm-fringed and thickly wooded islands, lush green vegetation, translucent waters and an exceptional range of bird and animal life. But the real attraction of the Okavango is tranquillity; its true spirit is one of harmony.

ACTIVITIES: Boat cruise, sundowner

Day 2: Nxaraga – Full Day – Camping

Because activities in the panhandle are focused on water, birding and general boating are the main interests. Papyrus lines the waterways, leaving only a thin ribbon of water to meander through its lush greenery. After morning activities, we will return to camp for lunch and siesta – that is the best time for a shower.

ACTIVITIES: Walking safari, boat cruise, sundowner

Day 3 & 4: Transfer to Moremi Game Reserve [Qadikwe] – Camping

Today our journey takes us to another destination of Moremi Game Reserve – Qadikwe. After breakfast we track back, heading to Moremi for 140 km (3 to 4 hours) to the station. Packed lunch with us means we will stop halfway for a picnic lunch. Moving day can be rough as we will move all our camping equipment to the next destination. The backup team will always be ahead to set up the camp and prepare meals.

ACTIVITIES: Game drives, boat cruise, sundowner

Day 5: Transfer to Moremi Game Reserve [Khwai] – Camping

Breakfast will be a relaxed affair this morning before taking a leisurely game drive out through the area, absorbing the majesty of the Okavango and its wildlife as we go. When we reach eastern Moremi Game Reserve, we will travel on the Khwai River area where we will spend 2 nights in a private campsite. There will be game to see on the way to the camp. Moremi Game Reserve became a conservation area back in 1964 and since then the reserve has gone from strength to strength. Today it is considered one of the world’s finest game viewing areas with an outstanding diversity of wildlife. The calls of this abundant wildlife will accompany our evening meal with campfire drinks, adding to the magical atmosphere here.

ACTIVITIES: Game drives, sundowner

Day 6: Moremi Game Reserve [Khwai] – Camping

We will wake early this morning and enjoy breakfast and a cup of coffee before heading out for a mokoro (canoe) cruise at first light. The wildlife here is incredible, so we will spend as much time as possible out in the reserve, soaking up the fantastic array of species and the environment they live in. We will return to camp for refreshments, lunch and siesta. The temperature will have cooled by the afternoon, so we will return for safari again. Along the way we will stop for snacks and sundowner before continuing to follow the life of the reserve. Dinner and drinks will be served beneath the starriest of skies this evening, and tales of the day will be exchanged before we all retire to our tents for the last night.

ACTIVITIES: Mokoro cruise, sundowner, game drives
